Your data, handled with care
AnteSum is built for clinicians, and we treat your data the way we'd want ours treated: collect the minimum, be transparent about it, and keep it secure. This page explains what we collect, why, and the control you have.
Who we are
AnteSum (“we”, “us”) provides a service that reads the journals in your specialty and distils them into a monthly digest and a personal reading list. For data-protection purposes, AnteSum is the data controller. If you have any questions about your data or this notice, email us at hello@antesum.com.
What we collect
Account & sign-in
AnteSum uses passwordless sign-in. We store your email address and send a single-use 6-digit code to log you in — we never store a password. Codes are short-lived and expire shortly after they're issued.
Your profile
When you set up your profile you may optionally tell us:
- Your name
- The subspecialties you follow
- Your grade, years in the field, and region of practice
We use this only to tailor your homepage and digest. All of it is optional, and you can change or remove it any time in Settings.
Your reading list
The papers you save to My Σ are stored against your account so your list is there when you return.
Anonymous usage analytics
To learn which papers matter and improve the product, we collect privacy-first, anonymous usage data — for example, which digests or papers are opened or saved. This is designed so it can't be traced back to you:
- It's tied to a rotating, pseudonymous identifier, not to your name or email.
- We record only a coarse country, device type, and app version, all derived on our server.
- We never store your IP address or browser user-agent.
Your choice. If you're in the UK or EEA we ask for your consent before any analytics are collected. Everywhere, you can turn this off at any time via the “Share anonymous usage” option at sign-up or in Settings. Opting out takes effect immediately.
Email you receive
We send sign-in codes whenever you log in. If you opt in, we also send the monthly digest for the subspecialties you follow. Every digest includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can change your email preference in Settings at any time. We don't send advertising email.
Who processes your data for us
To run AnteSum we use a small number of trusted third-party service providers — for example to host the service and to send email — who process data on our behalf, only on our instructions and under appropriate agreements. Our digests are generated from published research, not from your personal data.
Legal basis (UK/EU)
- Providing the service (your account, profile, and reading list) — necessary to deliver what you signed up for.
- Digest emails — your consent (the opt-in you choose), withdrawable at any time.
- Analytics — your consent in the UK/EEA; elsewhere, our legitimate interest in improving the product, which you can opt out of.
Cookies & local storage
AnteSum doesn't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your analytics consent and opt-out choices.
Keeping & deleting your data
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to export or delete your data at any time by emailing hello@antesum.com, and we'll action it. Anonymous analytics can't be linked back to you and are retained in aggregate.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to withdraw consent or object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact hello@antesum.com. If you're in the UK, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Children
AnteSum is intended for healthcare professionals and is not directed at children.
Changes to this notice
If we make material changes, we'll update this page and revise the date above. Continued use of AnteSum after a change means you accept the updated notice.
